For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1950 Parker 51 Stainless Steel Flighter Aerometric Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned, and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, hood, breather tube, and Aerometric coupler. Replaced the old glass-ply sac with a new glass-ply sac. Hand polished the Gold Filled Clip, Cap Band and 14K NIB. This fountain pen barrel and cap are made from stainless steel and display no dings or dents. This Parker 51 measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6" posted.
The fountain pen cap, barrel, and hood are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The cap and barrel are "frosty" and in magnificent condition. The cap and barrel show absolutely no dents or dings. The cap has the plastic pearlized jewel that has been polished to a high shine. The cap is stamped with Parker and Made In U.S.A. There are no monograms or personalizations to the cap or the barrel.
The Aerometric Filling System has been completely restored and works wonderfully. When testing the Aerometric Filling System with water - roughly 3-4 presses and the filling unit will completely fill. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and without issue.
The Parker 51 Nib has a 1950 date code and will date this Parker 51. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .62mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a Medium line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line ranges from .61mm to .65mm when measuring with digital calipers. The Nib writes very smoothly. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.
This vintage Parker 51 Flighter Aerometric Fountain Pen is a difficult fountain pen to acquire in this type of condition. I would consider this Parker to grade in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
