For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1941 Parker Double Jewel Vacumatic Fountain Pen in Azure Pearl. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Blue Diamond Gold Filled Feather Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap Banding (\\\///) and 14K Gold NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished & Waxed the barrel, cap and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.
The celluloid on this Parker Vacumatic is gorgeous! This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Blue Diamond Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip with only very minor brassing at the top near the jewel. The Gold Filled Chevron Cap Banding displays a wonderful gold filled color without any brassing. The top and bottom jewels are black and polished to a great shine The barrel is clearly stamped with, "Made in Canada Parker Vacumatic PAT NO.318982 REG. TMS. (no date code is displayed but we can date the pen between 1938 to 1941)". The transparency of the barrel is water clear as one can easily see through it. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen is a Major Size measuring 5 1/8" in length capped and 5 3/4" posted.
The 2nd Generation Speedline Filling Unit works great, typically in my tests with water about 7 to 9 presses and it will fill roughly full. I have greased the filling unit and now operates smoothly and works flawlessly. 2nd Generation Speedline filling units were manufactured from 1938 to 1941.
This Parker has a very Flexible Canadian Parker 14K 2-Tone NIB that writes extremely smooth. I cannot emphasize this enough - we have a Very Smooth and Flexible Canadian Nib on this Canadian Vac. The 2-tone NIB has nearly all of the platinum plating intact. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .83mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the images, the NIB writes with a fine to triple broad stroke. The fine stroke measures at .48mm and the triple broad stroke measures 2.12mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap. Some images may display glare from the lighting, rest assured the pen does not have any cracks, splits, or any damage - it is just the lighting glare.
This is a fabulous vintage Parker Vacumatic Double Jewel Azure Fountain Pen has much going on with it being a double jewel, water clear transparency, and having a fine to triple broad stroke smooth writing Nib! It would grade in the Excellent Condition. This fine Parker writing instrument is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
