For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1937 Parker Vacumatic Major Double Jewel Star Clip Fountain Pen in the Emerald Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

NOTE: This Star Clip was Parker's attempt at a lifetime guarantee symbol, one that didn't last before being announced publicly, replaced by what we know as the Blue Diamond which was more prominent. This took place in late 1938. Also, well-known are Star Clips turn up on Vacs that never was intended to be a high line fountain pens. In theory, Parker had leftover Star Clips and since Parker made no public pronouncement about their significance (compared to the Blue Diamond clips, the Star Clips did not officially mean pens that had a lifetime warranty), Parker blew out leftovers on pens that would not receive the Blue Diamond Clip/Lifetime Warranty. Star clips are relatively uncommon.

The nib, feed, section, and breather tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Star Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, 14K Parker 2-Tone nib, and bottom tassel. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a Major size that measures 5 1/8" capped and 6" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing to the barrel. The Emerald Pearl color is simply beautiful with a vibrant green color. The cap has the Star Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding. The clip and cap banding display no wear. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel, section, and blind cap of the fountain pen and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 47 (for 1937) in the 4th Quarter". The barrel transparency has medium ambering. The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Major Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and it fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, in my tests with water, it takes about 12-15 presses to fill nearly full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Vacumatic nib is 14K Gold with all of the platinum masking intact, which is a rare treat in these modern times. The nib comes with a fine point that measures .53mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with an extra fine to fine stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .40mm to .58mm with firm pressure when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This Parker Emerald Pearl Double Jewel Major Fountain Pen doesn't get much better than this - it has all the high-line features - the celluloid is vibrant, has the striped jewels, striped section, the barrel still has transparency, and has the scarce Star clip. I would consider this Parker Vac to grade in Excellent to Near Mint Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
