For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1937 Parker Double Jewel Vacumatic Fountain Pen in Jet Black Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Feather Arrow Clip, Three Ring Cap Banding and 14K Gold NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished & Waxed the barrel, cap and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.
The celluloid on this 1937 Parker Vacumatic is gorgeous! This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Gold Filled Feather Arrow Clip with no brassing. The Three Ring Cap Banding displays a wonderful gold filled color, again without any brassing. The top and bottom jewels are black and polished to a great shine The barrel is clearly stamped with, "PARKER DUOFOLD MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 7 (1937) in the second quarter". The transparency of the barrel is good as one can easily see through it, albeit with ambering. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.
The 1st Generation Lock-Down Filling Unit works great, typically in my tests with water about 7 to 9 presses and it will fill roughly 7/8 full. I have greased the filling unit and now operates smoothly and works flawlessly.
This Parker has the U.S.A. Parker 14K 2-Tone NIB that writes with a firm point. The 2-tone NIB has nearly all of the platinum plating intact. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .68mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample, the NIB writes with a fine stroke, the writing sample provided in the image has a fine stroke measuring at .54mm. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap. Some images may display glare from the lighting, rest assured the pen does not have any cracks, splits, or any damage - it is just the lighting glare.
This is a fabulous vintage Parker Vacumatic Standard Fountain Pen in the Jet Black Celluloid is extremely classy! It would grade in the Excellent Condition. Certainly has beautiful celluloid and this writing instrument is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
